Happy New Year!

Wow…it’s hard to believe it is already 2023! We hope everyone had a great New Year’s Eve and a wonderful holiday. We definitely did and got to spend some quality time together with family, which always makes for a good time. This is our third year of running Skandibaking, and we are hoping for it to be the best yet. Thank you (as always) for following along with our blog, our recipes, and our lives – we appreciate you! Today’s Blog Post

Before we get fully invested in planning our content for the new year, it is always helpful to reflect on the year gone by. Today, we want to do that by sharing a line-up of our top 10 recipes from 2022! These are the recipes that performed best on the blog and got the most site visits. They were also (hopefully) the recipes that were baked the most! So, without further ado, here they are from 1 through to 10 – enjoy 🙂

Danish Pastry Dough (Wienerbrødsdej)
This recipe for Danish pastry dough makes the most buttery, flakey, and delicious pastries! Use this to make plain pastries like croissants, or check out some of our other recipes to make filled pastries like spandauer and tebirkes.

Kanelsnegle (Danish Cinnamon Buns)
Kanelsnegle, also called onsdagssnegle or "Wednesday snails," are a staple in Denmark. This recipe lets you bake them to your own preference, whether you like them American-style (aka super gooey) or crispy.

Kardemummabullar (Swedish Cardamom Buns)
These sweet twisted buns have an amazingly soft and fluffy texture, and are spiced with cardamom. Enjoy them with a strong cup of coffee or tea as a part of a Swedish fika, or afternoon coffee break!

These flaky and buttery pastries are one of the most beloved pastries in Denmark. Made with laminated yeasted dough, they are certainly a commitment to make, but the result makes it all worth it!

This is one of our favorite Danish pastries! Two layers of flaky, buttery, laminated dough with a layer of sweet, delicious marzipan filling in between and poppy seeds on top – what could be better?

The tartness of the jam in these "raspberry caves" creates the perfect balance with the sweetness of the cookie. They also have an amazingly soft and crumbly texture from the addition of cornstarch!

This cake is made of stacked rings of baked marzipan. With a delicious sweet, almond flavor, it is perfect for a New Year's Eve celebration! This recipe is adapted from Arla's recipe for the ingredient amounts.
