Today’s Post
It’s February and love is in the air! It’s the month of Valentine’s Day, full of hearts and flowers and lots of candy. Honestly, I can’t help but love a little holiday cheer in the wintertime, even if it’s in the form of a slightly over-commercialized holiday like Valentine’s Day. That being said, you’ll still find me buying at least a few bags of pink and red candy because I just can’t help it. One thing I really have grown to love about this month since we first started Skandibaking is having a social media feed filled with Valentine’s-themed goodies from other food content creators, mostly because seeing people’s creativity and talent is just so special and inspiring. But it also got me thinking – if you have a baker you love in your life (and it can be yourself, of course!), what should you get them for Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s-themed Baking – Gifts
These first few gift ideas are for those bakers that love a themed bake, particularly a Valentine’s-themed bake. The good thing about these gifts is that while they feature mostly hearts and flowers, they’re still practical additions to a kitchen that you can use all year round. And, we’ve tried to include gifts at a variety of price points, so if you’re looking for a small thing or a bigger thing, we hope you can take inspiration from this list!
Nordic Ware pan with roses
This is an absolutely beautiful pan that gives you little rose cakes, which are perfect for any celebration or even if you just want to bake something pretty on a Sunday. Take it from us, Nordic Ware pans are a godsend, and we have pans in a few different designs and patterns. The best part is that they come out looking so pretty you don’t even have to decorate the cake afterwards!
Heart-shaped waffle maker
We have recommended this waffle maker on the blog in the past, in our Norwegian waffle recipe. Now, buying the heart-shaped waffle iron is not a requirement to make these waffles (you can use any one that you have), but it just helps produce Norwegian waffles with the perfect texture and design. They are so cute!
Spatula with hearts
Everyone needs a baking spatula in their kitchen. If you’re me, you have some reserved for cooking and some for baking (because I am weird about things touching and getting any trace of savory food in my baked goods), so an extra one never hurts. This one is the perfect gift to show a baker that you love them!
Cast iron heart cocotte
I wish I had infinite money so I could buy all of the Le Creuset hearts collection. But alas, I don’t. So if I had to settle for one product, it would definitely be this heart cocotte. You can bake things in it, cook in it, and it even looks good just sitting unused in a kitchen. The perfect gift!
Baking Essentials – Gifts
Now, these next gift ideas are not Valentine’s Day themed, but they’re a great option for someone who is missing some essentials in the kitchen. These are also at varying price points – obviously you don’t have to get someone a stand mixer for Valentine’s Day – and are great options for birthdays or Christmas or other holidays too. We basically just wanted to share some of our favorite things that we use on a regular basis that we thought the baker in your life might appreciate too.
Springform cake pans
If you bake cakes often, you need a springform pan. These are amazing, as the ring just pops off quickly and you can easily flip a cake out to cool. No sticking, no scraping around the edges to get a cake unstuck – it’s so easy to use and your cake ends up perfectly round. We swear by these for circular cakes!
Stand mixer
Yes, this is a very extravagant gift to give for Valentine’s Day, for sure. But speaking as someone who has a pink stand mixer, it can very much suit the occasion! You may also be able to find deals online for some brands, like KitchenAid or Kenwood, and there are always good options on Amazon.
Bench scraper
Whether you cook or bake a lot, a bench scraper can come in handy in so many ways. I use it to scoop up chopped veggies and dump them into a pan and then I use another one (can’t have my baking and cooking tools touching each other, sorry) to shape bread dough. You can also use a bench scraper to easily cut dough into pieces, and that’s even more convenient if it has a little ruler on it. We’ve included links below to a basic version from Amazon, and then a fun custom engraved version from Etsy! We have one that says “Skandibaking” along the top!
Bread lame
If you’re on the hunt for a gift for someone who likes to bake bread, a bread lame is a fantastic idea. This is basically a stick that holds a razor blade, and you use it to score bread. The scoring is what gives you the ear, or the part that sticks up and is really brown and crunchy and is typically seen on sourdough. The one we’ve linked below is super easy to use and comes with replacement razors!
