Today’s Post
Today we wanted to share 5 of our recipes that are perfect if you want to make a big batch of something, whether it’s a savory or sweet dish. I know that life gets super busy, so it can be helpful to prepare food on one day of the week to save time on other days that might be more busy. Personally, I like to bake batches of bread, particularly bagels, to eat throughout the week. I also like making muffins on the weekends to satisfy my sweet tooth during the week. And some weeks, it’s also really helpful to cook up a big batch of pasta sauce or chili to incorporate into dinners or lunches. Big batch cooking is a great hack for time, and it can also be an easy way to eat a bit healthier with less effort.
Ham and Asparagus Quiche
This quiche has a super flaky crust with a fluffy and delicious filling. The asparagus, ham, and cheese add amazing flavor, while the eggs make it a filling meal with plenty of protein. This can be a great meal to whip up on the weekend, slice up, and refrigerate for lunches throughout the week. Or, you can meal prep it for breakfasts! Either way, it’s a quick and easy big batch recipe to try adding into your weekly routine.
Gule Ærter
This is a recipe perfect for when the weather gets a little colder. It may not sound that appealing in the very hot summer the world seems to be experiencing at the moment! But in a few months, you will want to come back to it and we can promise delicious flavor and heartiness. This split pea soup is so comforting; it really is the perfect autumn or winter dish. Bake up a loaf of bread alongside it, and you will have dinner ready for a few days – one that you won’t get tired of!
Rødkål
While this may technically be a Christmas-oriented recipe, we think it is just a great side dish and should be embraced at all times throughout the year! It uses up about 2 lbs of cabbage, and you can easily make more. Cabbage is a cheap and nutritious ingredient, and if you know how to properly preserve pickled goods, then you can even can this braised cabbage and preserve it for months at a time. Or, just add as a side dish to any protein in your meal prep!
Pebernødder
Of course, no list on this blog would be complete without baked goods. In particular, cookies are a great big batch recipe to make, as they usually stay good for longer than a week. Plus, they are delicious! These cookies are very small in size, but the recipe makes 150, which means plenty to go ’round. They may also be associated with Christmastime, but they deserve to be eaten anytime of the year!
Fødselsdagsboller
As I mentioned earlier, baking bread on the weekend sets you up really well for breakfasts and/or lunches throughout the rest of the week. I love making these rolls because our recipe makes a lot, which means you can even freeze some. They are easy to microwave or toast from frozen, and it makes life a little easier when you know you have homemade bread in the house. We hope you give these a try if you haven’t – they are one of our favorite classic recipes!
