New Blog Post Series

Hi everyone! We are so excited today to be starting a new blog post series. So far, we have three series – “Five Recipes We Are Loving This Month,” “Recipes for You,” and “Recipes for Success” – you can find them listed here along with the rest of our blog posts. Our new “For Your Next” series creates fun and customizable menus for your next big event, where we draw on our own recipes to come up with the perfect combination of dishes for the time of year and type of event. We hope you like this idea; if anything, it’s just very exciting to picture our recipes being used for events in people’s lives!

Summer Dinner Party

So, with that explained, we thought there was no better place to start than with a summery dinner party! Now that it’s almost August, we are enjoying long days of daylight and plenty of sunshine. It’s no wonder that many people enjoy eating dinners outside surrounded by friends, cold drinks, and delicious food! But the summer heat also means that we don’t necessarily want to spend lots of time in a warm kitchen. The recipes we are sharing today require minimal baking/cooking and can be prepared ahead of time so that you can cool off and enjoy your guests’ company when they arrive!

Elderflower gin soda in a stem wine glass garnished with lime.

Cocktail: Elderflower Gin Soda

We have to start with a drink, of course! We love the flavor of elderflower more than anything else at this time of year, as it just screams summertime. This cocktail combines elderflower, lime, and gin to create a super refreshing drink that will help you survive the summer heat. It’s also really easy to make, as you don’t even have to shake it but can just stir together the ingredients with some ice. You can easily make a pitcher for a large group of people and just cut out some lime slices for garnish. Simple, cool, refreshing – the perfect cocktail! You can find the recipe here.

Salad with arugula, nectarines, prosciutto, basil, and burrata arranged on a serving dish.

Starter: Nectarine, Prosciutto & Burrata Summer Salad

When it comes to a starter for a summertime dinner party, you want something easy to put together, super fresh, and reasonably light. This summer salad ticks all of those boxes! The combination of fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, prosciutto, and burrata is so refreshing and delicious. You can chop up ingredients ahead of time and assemble the salad whenever you like! It really won’t take long and the result will be so impressive and tasty. Most importantly, this salad is super customizable with whatever ingredients you have on hand. Recipe can be found here – try it out!

Quiche with tomato, spinach, onion and mozzarella.

Main Dish: Tomato, Spinach & Mozzarella Quiche

Since the starter we have chosen gives off some Italian vibes, we want to keep the main dish along those lines as well. Quiche may be French, that’s true, but the ingredients in this one are almost reminiscent of a margherita pizza. The crust is deliciously buttery and flakey, while the filling is both hearty and fresh. The tomatoes and spinach add a nice lightness to the dish, and the mozzarella and egg in the filling will no doubt fill everyone up after a slice or two. You can make this ahead of time and serve it cold, but it’s also not too difficult to whip up just before dinnertime and serve warm! Here is the recipe.

Rustic looking bread rolls on a cutting board

Side: Rundstykker (Danish Breakfast Rolls)

These may be called “breakfast rolls” but they certainly don’t need to be exclusive to breakfast! These crusty bread rolls would go perfectly with the fresh salad and hearty quiche. They are so flavorful but simple, with only six ingredients (two being sugar and salt) needed to make them. Plus, with our recipe, you don’t even have to knead the dough, making it even easier! Serve these with butter on the side along with your starter and main dish, and we can promise that they will be eaten in a heartbeat. And if they aren’t, that just means leftover bread, which is an even better outcome for you! Our recipe can be found at this link.

A choux pastry ring filled with whipped cream and topped with chocolate icing

Dessert: Vandbakkelseskrans (Choux Pastry Ring)

When you think of a dessert that you might want to make for a large group of people, what are the most important characteristics? For us, that dessert should be impressive looking, easy to share, and simple enough that most people will like it. This choux pastry ring is perfect in all of those aspects! It looks like a lot of hard work goes into it, but it’s really quite easy to make. You can very quickly slice it up and give everyone a piece, and we can also promise that most people (if not everyone) will find it delicious! You can also decorate it however you like, which makes it very customizable to your taste. The recipe is up at this link on our website!

Happy Dinner Partying!

That’s the end of today’s blog post – thanks for reading! We love the idea of hosting a summer dinner party with these dishes as the headliners, as we think it would be both impressive and delicious. And we all know that the two most important parts of a large gathering are the company and the food! God fornøjelse!
