It’s about time we wrote out a recipe for Denmark’s national dish – smørrebrød, aka open-faced sandwiches! We grew up eating simplified versions of the sandwiches in this recipe for lunch, and fancier versions for family events around Christmas or Easter.
Somehow we have already reached the month of autumn turning into winter, even though I swear it was August yesterday! Halloween is over, which means it’s time to start thinking about…Christmas!
As we have worked on this blog, many of our recipes, while they are our own way of doing things, are not anything new. We base our blog on many baked goods and desserts that already exist.
As we have mentioned on our About Us page, as well as countless other times on this blog, we were born in Denmark but moved away when we were 5 and 8. That’s why today’s recipe is a fun crossover, just like us!
Over the past almost 2 years, we have posted a total of 135 recipes including this one! That means that we have nearly covered most of the basics of Danish baked goods.
It’s so hard to believe it’s already mid-June and summer is in full swing, at least where we are! When the weather is nice and sunny, like it has been recently, we love to eat dinner outside as much as we possibly can.
A little over a year ago, in March of 2021, we posted one of our favorite bread recipes we’ve ever developed. Soft, fluffy, slightly sweet gulerodsboller, or carrot bread rolls.
We haven’t shared a classic Danish pastry recipe in a while, so we’re super excited for today’s post! When we started our blog, we very quickly developed and posted recipes for our favorite traditional Danish pastries, like spandauer, kanelsnegle, and tebirkes.
