Ingredients

  • 50 grams (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 150 grams (1 + 1/4 cup) flour
  • 230 ml (1 cup) milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 57 grams (1/2 stick) melted unsalted butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cardamom (optional)

Topping

  • Sour cream
  • Sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Fresh fruit

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together your dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and cardamom (optional).
  • In a separate bowl, combine your wet ingredients: sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. You may have to heat up your milk slightly so that the butter doesn't re-solidify when you add it!
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients until everything is just mixed - it's okay if it's still slightly lumpy!
    Waffle batter ready for cooking
  • Follow the instructions for your waffle iron to preheat the iron. Once ready, add about half a cup of waffle batter, spread it out, and let it cook for about 3 minutes (or whatever your waffle iron says!) until the waffles are golden brown and cooked all the way through. Repeat until you are out of batter.
  • To make a delicious topping, mix together sour cream, lemon juice, and a bit of sugar to taste. Serve with fresh fruit and enjoy! You can also use whatever toppings you want!
